Andrew (Andy) Hecht is an experienced corporate lawyer, entrepreneur, and he is the managing partner of Hecht Law PC. Prior to founding Hecht Law PC, Andy was a corporate and securities lawyer at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, a leading international law firm, based in the firm’s offices in New York, Tokyo and Palo Alto.
Andy has represented businesses of all shapes and sizes, from startups seeking to make their first deal, to major investment banks, private equity firms and their portfolio companies. He has worked on all manner of corporate transactions including mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buy-outs, public and private financings, securities offerings, minority investments and joint ventures.
Andy co-founded and served as first Chief Legal Officer of one of the earliest companies to enter the post-JOBS Act crowdfunding industry. In September 2013, he was issuer counsel for the first ever general solicitation offering to be launched under Title II of the JOBS Act, which was advertised throughout the country using live webcasts, press releases and interviews.
Andy's passion is working with entrepreneurs and building solid foundations to support their enthusiasm. Before studying law, he was a successful software developer who took on numerous challenges throughout the dot-com era. Among other things, Andy helped design and build the enterprise servers that became the initial backbone of the online bill payment industry, and he developed speech recognition-based trader workstations to enable stock traders to engage in high speed hands-free trading. Andy also co-founded, built and operated one of the first on-demand digital yoga studios.
In his spare time, Andy is an active outdoorsman and environmentalist. He has provided pro bono legal representation to the Natural Resources Defense Council and volunteered with many grass-roots environmental organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area and around the United States.
Andy speaks, reads and writes Spanish and Japanese. He is admitted to practice law in the States of California and New York. Andy holds a B.A in Asian Languages & Civilizations from Amherst College, a J.D. from the Duke University School of Law and a M.E.M. in Environmental & Resource Economics from Duke University - Nicholas School of the Environment.
Scott Mollett is a partner in Hecht Law PC and experienced corporate attorney. Providing professional advice to clients in significant transactions and being a partner to businesses have always been at the heart of Scott’s interest in corporate law. He assists companies as an outside general counsel and transactional advisor.
Scott started his career working in corporate practices in the San Francisco and Palo Alto offices of several international law firms. His experience includes mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, emerging company and financing work. He was also a visiting assistant professor at Fordham Law School, where he taught classes on business transactions. Scott has been recognized by Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in 2015, 2016 and 2017.
Outside of work, Scott spends his time going on adventures with his lovely wife and two daughters. He also tries to make time for road cycling and skiing in the Sierras.
Scott majored in History and Japanese Studies at Dartmouth College and received his J.D. from Stanford Law School. Scott previously studied at Kobe University as a Fulbright Fellow and speaks, reads and writes Japanese. Scott is admitted to practice law in the State of California.
